Using your own breastmilk, I can craft a custom order of bar soaps for your little one (or anyone in the family!). This listing will buy you an entire loaf of soap using your breastmilk, which makes 10 bars.
These soaps are cold processed and made with your breastmilk, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, and Castor Oil for a gentle, conditioning soap. You also have the option to add colloidal oatmeal and/or honey for added skin benefits.
**Note: When ordering this custom soap with other products, ALL products will ship together at the end of the cure time for your breastmilk soap, which will be in 5-6 weeks. If you'd like your other products shipped first, you will need to place a separate order.
Ingredients
Breastmilk can be extremely beneficial for your little one’s (or anyone’s!) skin, especially those babies prone to eczema, baby acne, and other skin conditions. Breastmilk contains palmitic acid, which is a fatty acid that acts as a natural moisturizer. It also contains oleic acid, which heals dry skin. Vaccenic acid within breastmilk protects and nourishes the skin, and linoleic acid lightens spots and minimizes inflammation (https://www.elvie.com/en-us/blog/breast-milk-baths-what-you-need-to-know).
Finely ground oatmeal within this bar of soap also adds some extra properties for your baby’s sensitive skin. It is a natural moisturizer, fights inflammation, gently cleanses, and can help relieve itching.
Honey is a natural antibacterial and antiseptic, again benefiting those with acne or inflammatory skin problems. Honey also acts as a natural humectant, which keeps skin moist but not oily.
Ingredients: Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Breastmilk, Sodium Hydroxide, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Sodium Lactate, Honey, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Flour
Details
Once you place this order, I will contact you regarding receipt of the breastmilk you would like to use in the soap loaf. I will need about 8 fl oz of breastmilk for the recipe, which you will need to ship to me (see below). Once I receive your milk, I will keep you updated on the process and let you know when your soap has been made. It then takes 5-6 weeks to cure before you can use the soap, so please plan accordingly. Once your soap is cured, I will ship your bars to you.
Please indicate in your checkout order if you would like oats or honey added to your bar soaps.
Since these are handmade, there may be variations in texture, appearance, and color compared to what is shown. The pictures only show an example.
How should you ship the breast milk?
- It would be best for your milk to be frozen for shipment. (I will also be freezing your milk before making the soap, so this helps with that extra step as well). This will help preserve the quality of the milk and also prevent leakage during shipment.
- Please double bag your breast milk to prevent leakage and include an ice pack as well as insulation for best results, especially during warmer months of the year.
- Make sure to abide by your shipping carrier's rules regarding shipping liquids/perishable items. You are responsible for abiding by shipping laws.
- I need about 8 fl oz of breastmilk for this recipe, a little less is fine if there is some leakage or you cannot spare that much.
- I recommend shipping via the fastest method, such as USPS Priority Mail Express, or UPS Ground Express. To save money on shipping costs, you can use free shipping websites such as Pirate Ship or Shippo to get discounted costs compared to over-the-counter prices.
- Ship to me at: Hemsworth Homestead, 2102 Burlington Road, Oskaloosa, IA 52577
- Please email me at info@hemsworthhomestead.com when you ship your milk so that I can watch for the mail and bring the milk inside right away (especially during the warmer months).

FAQ's
How long does the soap last?
- A bar of soap usually lasts customers 1-2 months, maybe longer, depending on how often they use it! You can use this for yourself or your little one.
- Once cured, the bars of soap have a super long shelf life! Because of the chemical changes that occur during saponification (the process of changing lye and oils/butters into soap), the milk will not spoil. In fact, soap often gets better the longer it cures!
Is this soap tear-free?
- No! The pH of cold process bar soap is often alkaline, meaning the pH is higher than neutral, around 8-9 usually. This means that it will sting if it gets in your baby's eyes. It is gentle, though, on their skin, due to the conditioning properties of the extra oils and butters in this soap. We recommend using this for infants that are 2-3 months or older, though, just to protect their delicate infant skin in the early months. Also, just make sure you are able to wash/rinse them without getting soap into their eyes.
What if I don't have 8 fl oz of milk to spare?
- No problem! I will use as much as you have, and the rest can be replaced with water or another milk (if you prefer).
What is included in this purchase?
- You get the FULL 10 bars of soap for this price, as well as the little soap scrap ends! This is a great deal, and comes to $5.50/bar of soap. My normal soaps of this quality run about $7-9/each.
What if I don't have any breast milk but want to purchase this?
- Sorry, this listing is only for mamas who want to use their own breast milk! I don't sell it to any other customers for hygiene reasons. My Goat Milk + Honey soap is super similar and would be a wonderful alternative for those wanting the benefits of milk and honey in their soap. It is a very gentle, unscented soap and the goat milk provides similar benefits and creaminess in the soap.

Having a fall baby, this was the perfect solution to his dry skin and winter eczema. It also cleared up the baby acne on his face really quickly! Hands down my favorite soap for babies and toddlers! I love that I can continue bathing my toddler with this soap even after I've stopped breastfeeding and can no longer do breastmilk baths.
I loved that I was able to use the natural healing in breastmilk for eczema on my babies. Knowing they were getting washed with clean ingredients, plus the breastmilk helped with the eczema gave me a piece of mind.
