Now that you’ve received your new, all-natural products, here’s some helpful information about how/where to use them and the best way to store or care for them. If you’re having trouble with one of your products, please check the information in this document and then contact me via email at info@hemsworthhomestead.com if that does not remedy your problem. Bar Soap

Directions: Lather and wash skin; can be used on face or body; rinse well. If sensitive to any ingredients, discontinue use immediately.

Important: Due to their natural ingredients and colorants, the scent and coloration may change or fade over time. This is not indicative of quality and can continue to be used safely. People with sensitive skin or allergies should first test the soap on a small spot of skin and discontinue use if any irritation occurs.

If you find your soap is drying to your skin, you can follow it up with a moisturizer or body oil to help replace moisture. All bar soaps will be cleansing to some degree, and skin types/preferences are different from individual to individual.

Storage: Cold processed bar soaps should be stored with adequate air flow to allow them to dry between uses; this allows for maximum longevity of the bar. Using a soap dish or tray with slats or a way to drain water away from the soap is preferable.

Bath Salts

These all-natural bath salts are made with quality ingredients and scented only with pure essential oils. Rest your body and mind with these relaxing, rejuvenating ingredients. These bath salts are preservative-free and should last for about 9-12 months in a cool, dry place.

Directions: Add a few tablespoons of bath salt to your running bath water or add the salts to a bath tea bag and drop into the bath water. Stir to dissolve. If you find your bath salts are sticking together in your jar or glass tube, just use a long, hard object to break up the salts (like a pen or skewer). Depending on where your salts are stored, they may attract some moisture which may cause them to clump slightly. I do not use any anti-clumping ingredients as these are usually synthetic.

Important: Always stop use of bath salts immediately if any reaction occurs and consult your physician for treatment. For external use only. Do not ingest. Keep out of reach of children.

Beard Balm

With its unique almost ointment-like texture, our beard balm effortlessly melts into your facial hair, providing a soothing sensation. What sets our balm apart is its versatile nature – not only does it style and tame your beard, but it can also double as a conditioner. Simply add a bit of water and watch as it transforms it into a silky conditioner that rinses out easily.

Directions:

Apply a very small amount to your fingers and work into your beard and skin beneath your beard.

Beard Oil

Directions: Shake well before use. Dispense a small amount of oil into your palm and work into your beard and skin under your beard.

Important: Due to their natural ingredients, the scent may slowly fade over time. These beard oils are lightly scented. People with sensitive skin or allergies should first test the soap on a small spot of skin and discontinue use if any irritation occurs.

Blue Tansy Body Oil

This beautifully rich body oil boasts of the floral notes of Egyptian Geranium, the sweet fruity-ness of Blue Tansy, and the cool mint notes of Peppermint. The main benefits of this body oil (that can also be used as a face serum) include: anti-aging, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, fading stretch marks, and soothing red and irritated skin. This can also be used as a face serum if you desire, but always discontinue use if you notice any skin irritation.

Directions: Apply to clean skin as needed for hydration. Avoid the delicate skin around the eyes.

Important: People with skin sensitivities or allergies should first test the oil on a small spot of the skin and stop using if any irritation occurs. These body oils should have a shelf life of a year or more when stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Calendula Salve

This salve is formulated to be nourishing, gentle, and fast absorbing. It is perfect for dry, chapped skin, or anywhere that needs a little extra attention. Nourishing Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil, Calendula-infused Olive Oil, and a touch of beeswax are the star ingredients in this salve. It is lightly scented with Lavender and Sweet Marjoram essential oils, which also add a touch of anti-inflammatory properties. Perfect for diaper rash, eczema, dry skin, psoriasis, mild burns, or wound healing, this salve has so many benefits!

During shipment in warm weather, this salve may become soft or partially liquefied. Place your salve in the refrigerator for a minimum of 30 minutes before opening to avoid spillage. The texture of this product may change slightly after melting and re-hardening.

Directions: Apply liberally as often as needed, avoiding eyes.

Important: Always test the salve on a small spot of skin first before applying and stop using if any irritation occurs. Each salve tin contains about 60g and will come with a small spatula for easy application. These salves are preservative-free and contain no water; they have a shelf life of a year or more.

Clarity Face Mask

This detoxifying and clarifying face mask features French Green Clay and a blend of acne-fighting essential oils to promote a clear complexion and hydrated skin. Unlike other face masks that feel dry and tight when applying, this mask contains no water; instead, it contains the moisturizing Safflower Oil to promote a hydrated, soft feel. This face mask washes off easily with water and can even act like a cleansing balm.

During shipment in warm weather, this face mask may become soft or partially liquefied. Place your tin in the refrigerator for a minimum of 30 minutes before opening to avoid spillage. The texture of this product may change slightly after melting and re-hardening.

Directions: Massage into skin, avoiding eyes. Rinse off with water after about 15 minutes.

Important: These face masks are preservative-free and contain no water; they have a shelf life of a year or more and should not go rancid if stored in a cool place way from sunlight. People with skin sensitivities or allergies should first test the mask on a small spot of the skin and stop using if any irritation occurs.

Cleansing Balm

This creamy cleansing balm will gently exfoliate and wash away dirt, makeup, and sweat, leaving your face feeling refreshed and moisturized. Using natural emollients and emulsifiers, oils that are good for your skin, and the added benefits of colloidal oatmeal and kaolin clay, this cleansing balm is the perfect addition to your skincare routine.

During shipment in warm weather, this balm may become soft or partially liquefied. Place your tin in the refrigerator for a minimum of 30 minutes before opening to avoid spillage. The texture of this product may change slightly after melting and re-hardening.

Directions: Scoop out a dime-sized amount and massage into dry skin. Moisten fingertips and continue to massage into skin, watching the balm melt away your makeup. Rinse with water or wipe away with a warm cloth.

Important: These cleansing balms contain a natural preservative to prevent bacterial growth. Please keep stored away from water and use dry hands to apply the balm for best results. Since these are handmade, there may be slight variations in appearance.

Conditioner Bar

Hemsworth Homestead conditioner bars are made with naturally derived ingredients, including conditioning agents, butters/oils, and essential oils to help coat and condition your hair strands, locking in moisture and giving your hair a soft, voluminous feel!

Directions: To use your solid conditioner bar, stroke the bar over damp, clean hair until the hair softens and feels "coated." Let sit for a few minutes, then rinse (cold water recommended for best results).

Help your conditioner bar last longer by allowing it to dry completely between uses.

Important: Each conditioner bar weighs about 3.5oz (100g). Each item is handmade and may vary slightly in appearance due to the natural ingredients. Scent may slowly fade over time due to the use of natural essential oils.

Deodorant

Our deodorants are made with naturally derived, non-toxic ingredients and lightly scented with essential oils. We've crafted this deodorant to be gentle on your skin and tough on odor, all without aluminum or baking soda. Our special blend of arrowroot powder, organic potato starch, and magnesium powder works seamlessly to keep you dry and comfortable, preserving your skin's natural balance.

Directions: Apply a few swipes to each armpit daily for odor protection. External use only.

Important: Store away from direct heat and light. If exposed to heat, place product in the fridge to restore consistency. Make sure to allow the product to return to room temperature before twisting the deodorant or you risk breaking the mechanism inside.

Floral Water Spray

These floral sprays are made with a natural, plant-derived solubilizer, hydrosols, and a natural preservative to prevent any microbial growth. They are scented only with pure essential oils so you can feel good about what you spray in your home and on your skin!

Contrary to our traditional room sprays, these floral water sprays ARE skin safe due to the lower concentration of essential oils used. They still pack a punch with amazing scent, and work great as an air freshener or fabric spray as well!

Directions: Shake well before use. When spraying directly on linens or fabrics, test on a small, inconspicuous patch first. Spray and enjoy!

Important: These have a shelf life of about 6 months and should not spoil if stored in a cool place away from sunlight. These are natural and should not be expected to last as long as sprays with artificial fragrance. Since these are handmade, there may be slight variations in appearance.

Herbal Baby Oil + Balm

This gentle oil and balm are so multi-purpose and can be used for both baby and mama. The baby oil is great for an after-bath moisturizer, and the balm can be used on any dry spots, diaper rash, or even as a nipple balm for the mother. These are unscented, and instead infused with Dried Juniper Berries, Lavender, Chamomile, Rose Petals, and Calendula for the botanical benefit.

Directions: Apply a small amount of oil to clean skin. Best used after a bath to help lock in moisture. Massage gently. External use only.

Lavender + Magnesium Body Cream

Our thick and creamy formula glides on smoothly, absorbs quickly, and contains magnesium chloride for multiple health benefits such as muscle soreness relief, relaxation, and improved sleep. The soothing lavender scent adds an extra touch of relaxation to your senses. Say goodbye to stress and hello to a peaceful, rejuvenating experience!

Directions: Apply as needed to body or hands. Avoid eyes. External use only on intact skin. Magnesium may sting on open or dry skin.

Each tsp of cream contains about 130mg of elemental magnesium.

Important: This body cream should have a shelf life of 18 months or more. It contains a nature identical and nature derived preservative that helps prevent microbial growth in your body cream. It is ECOcert and NPA approved for use in natural and organic cosmetics. These body creams are also made with a natural, vegetable-derived emulsifying wax to make the lotion creamy and moisturizing. Please keep the jar clean and dry and store away from direct sunlight.

Each bottle contains about 8 oz (sold by weight). Since these are handmade, there may be variations from what is pictured in size or appearance.

Lip Balm

These lip balms are formulated to be hydrating and long-lasting. With only beeswax, coconut oil, and shea butter as the main ingredients, these lip balms are perfect for any skin type and will quickly become your favorite! These are scented with only pure essential oils, and an unscented version is provided for those that don’t wish to have any essential oils added.

Directions: Apply to lips as often as needed.

Lotion

These lotions are formulated to be lightweight, absorb quickly, yet provide lasting hydration to the skin. Hempseed and Avocado oils provide hydration and soothing to dry skin.

Replenish Facial Serum

Replenish Facial Serum features 14 amazing ingredients that work together to restore, rejuvenate, and replenish your skin’s natural barrier and complexion. It has been specifically formulated to target dry, mature, or aging skin; it can also be used to prevent skin damage and wrinkles as part of a preventative regimen. This serum is lightly scented with the floral notes of Neroli, the woodiness of Copaiba and Helichrysum, and balanced with the light and fresh notes of Lemon, Chamomile, and Frankincense.

Directions: First, cleanse and exfoliate face as normal. Gently apply a small amount of serum to your face and neck with either your fingertips or palms. Then, wait 5 minutes for your face serum to fully absorb; you can enhance absorption by gently tapping the serum into your skin.

Restore Skin Salve

Restore Skin Salve is an incredibly moisturizing natural skin salve that is great for many skin conditions: dry skin, mature or aging skin, psoriasis, eczema, etc. It can be used in place of aftershave, as a moisturizing night cream, as a diaper rash barrier for babies, on dry or irritated skin, or as a sunburn relief ointment. This salve comes in an unscented option for those that are sensitive to fragrance or have sensitive skin. Restore does go on slightly greasy but is quickly absorbed by the skin. Each skin salve tub will come with a small spatula for easy application. The tubs are recyclable and BPA-free. These Restore Skin Salves are preservative-free and contain no water; they have a shelf life of a year or more and should not go rancid if stored in a cool place away from sunlight. Since these are handmade, there may be slight variations in appearance.

Important: This product melts at slightly below body temperature due to the oil content. If it is warmer than ~80 degrees where you live, the product may melt slightly during shipping. It is still fine to use if it melts, but the Shea butter may become slightly grainy. Little white beads may appear in the product; this is not mold. The butters and beeswax in this product can produce little “butter beads” since they have been melted and then cooled.

**Warm weather warning: If the salve feels liquid/melted when you receive it from temperature changes during shipment, do not open it. Place it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before opening. The product should be fine for use, but may have changed slightly in appearance.

Roll-on Fragrances

These handcrafted roll-on fragrances are made with quality natural carrier oils and are scented with essential oils.

Directions: Shake well a few times before first use. Roll onto natural pulse points such as wrists or neck; massage into skin. Store in an upright position. If you find your roller bottle is not applying correctly at first use, put some pressure on the glass roller ball and glide around slowly on dry skin. This will encourage the oil to flow around the glass roller ball.

Important: Keep in mind that because these are natural, the scent may not last as long as synthetic fragrances; re-apply throughout the day as needed. People with sensitive skin or allergies should first test the serum on a small spot of skin and discontinue use if any irritation occurs.

Room Spray

These room sprays are made with a natural, plant-derived solubilizer, distilled water, and a natural preservative to prevent any microbial growth. They are scented only with pure essential oils so you can feel good about what you spray in your home!

Directions: Shake well before use. When spraying directly on linens or fabrics, test on a small, inconspicuous patch first. Spray and enjoy! (Not for use on the skin.)

Rosemary + Thyme Hair Balm

This lightweight, nourishing, yet silky balm can be used as a leave-in conditioning product or can be used as a wash-out hair mask. It’s the perfect companion to the Rosemary + Thyme Hair Serum (which is more of a scalp serum that is best washed out). This hair balm is specifically formulated to absorb quickly, making it a great choice for a leave-on conditioner for the ends of your hair.

Directions: Apply a very small amount (this is key or the product may feel too heavy on your hair) and work into mid-length and ends of hair. Can be left in for additional moisture or washed out. Works well with dry or damp hair alike.

Important: These hair balms do not contain a preservative, so please avoid getting water into the tin. Since these are handmade, there may be slight variations in appearance.

Rosemary + Thyme Hair Serum

This hair serum balances the herbal, fresh scents of Rosemary and Thyme with the floral aroma of Lavender and the woodiness of Cedarwood. The Rosemary + Thyme has a beautiful, fresh, uplifting scent and is specially formulated to help with hair health and growth.

Directions: Apply lightly to the ends and middle of hair strands or use as a scalp serum and allow to absorb before washing hair as normal.

*Most customers find this makes their hair greasy if applied directly. It's most often and best used as a scalp serum before washing. Leave on for ~1 hour up to overnight before washing.

Sea Fennel + Frankincense Facial Serum

This serum is designed for those with dry skin. The scent combines the strong, carrot-like scent of Sea Fennel with the wonderfully fresh notes of Frankincense and the warmth of Tamanu oil. All the ingredients in this facial serum create a powerhouse moisturizer, great for oil cleansing or nightly application to replenish and smooth the skin’s appearance.

Shampoo Bar

Hemsworth Homestead shampoo bars are made with natural ingredients and very mild surfactants and cleansers to remove debris and product buildup from your hair, leaving it feeling clean and soft!

We have different shampoo bars for different hair needs. Be sure to read the description for your individual shampoo bar on the website to find the best one for your hair type.

Directions: To use your solid shampoo bar, build up some lather by rubbing it to wet hair. Wash all over your hair and scalp then rinse. Repeat again if necessary (recommended).

Help your shampoo bar last longer by allowing it to dry completely between uses.

Important: Each shampoo bar weighs about 3.3oz (95g). Each item is handmade and may vary slightly in appearance due to the natural ingredients. Scent may slowly fade over time due to the use of natural essential oils.

Sugar Scrub

Each sugar scrub comes with a small spatula for easy application. The tubs are recyclable and BPA-free. Optiphen Plus is used in my sugar scrubs as a natural preservative that is paraben and formaldehyde free and is internationally accepted for use in cosmetics. It prevents the growth of bacteria and mold so that you can use your sugar scrubs in your shower or bath with confidence!

Directions: Do not use more than 2-3 times weekly to avoid over-exfoliating the skin. Use the included spatula to remove a small amount of scrub from the jar. Massage scrub into skin and then rise off. Avoid getting water in the sugar scrub jar to help maintain its texture and prevent microbial growth.

Important: This product melts at slightly below body temperature. If it is warmer than that where you live, the product may melt during shipping. It is still fine to use if it melts, but the texture may be altered. You can re-whip it with beaters or a stand mixer if you wish. We do not recommend ordering if your weather is warmer than ~80 degrees. I will do my best to ship with an ice pack if the weather is unseasonably hot. These are only available for sale during the fall and winter months for this reason. Tallow Balm

This smooth, hydrating tallow balm features the skin-loving, popular ingredient of beef tallow. It’s balanced by golden Rosehip oil and beeswax for ultimate hydration. It can be used on any skin that is in need of moisture and vitamins: hands, face, or body. This formulation is especially designed for those with mature, dry skin or those wanting anti-aging and anti-inflammatory benefits. The unscented version would also be great for small children or infants with dry skin or inflammatory conditions. It only contains four simple, all-natural ingredients that are whipped to a smooth, soft consistency.

The Pure + Simple tallow balm is fragrance-free, making it perfect for those with sensitive skin or noses. The balm may still have a slight aroma from the natural ingredients. “Unscented” means that there are no added essential oils for fragrance.

Whipped Body Butter

Each sugar scrub comes with a small spatula for easy application. These body butters are preservative-free and contain no water; they have a shelf life of a year or more and should not go rancid if stored in a cool place away from sunlight. Since these are handmade, there may be slight variations in appearance.

Whipped Tallow Balms: Frankincense + Blue Tansy

These whipped tallow balms contain mostly tallow that is whipped to a fluffy consistency and combined with other nourishing oils.

Frankincense Whipped Tallow Balm contains grass-fed tallow, jojoba oil, Frankincense essential oil, and vitamin E. It is formulated to help reduce the appearance of scars and wrinkles and is most helpful for those with mature or dry skin.

Blue Tansy Whipped Tallow Balm contains grass-fed tallow, grapeseed oil, Blue Tansy, Lavender, and Sandalwood essential oils, and vitamin E. It is formulated for those with acne-prone or inflammatory skin conditions.

Directions: Apply a light layer to face, neck and décolletage while skin is still damp as the last step in your daily skincare routine. Can also be used on the body.

Important: These whipped balms will be shipped with an ice pack during the warmer months. Please bring your package in right away once delivered to prevent the product from melting. It can still be used if melted, but the whipped texture may be lost. Please refer to this page if one of your products melts during shipment.
